Buying, financing, delivery, inspection, warranty, and registration — everything before and after you tow it home.
Buying
How do I buy a trailer listed on Trailer Shopper®?
Contact the dealer directly via the listing — use the inquiry form, email, or phone number shown on the page. Most dealers respond within hours and can arrange pickup or delivery.
Delivery
Does the dealer deliver?
Many dealers deliver nationwide; most offer free delivery within a local radius and per-mile or flat-rate beyond. Delivery cost depends on distance, trailer size, and route. Ask the dealer for an out-the-door price including delivery.
Financing
Is financing available?
Most Trailer Shopper® dealers offer financing through trusted partners with approvals in minutes. Terms typically run 36-84 months. Down payments vary by credit profile and loan amount. Request a financing quote directly from any trailer listing page.
Inspection
Can I inspect the trailer before buying?
Yes. Visit the dealer's lot to inspect in person, or request a virtual video walkaround. For used trailers, ask about the trailer's title, service history, and any known issues before committing to purchase.
Insurance
Do I need insurance for my trailer?
Most states require insurance for any trailer that gets registered. Your auto insurer can add the trailer as a separately-listed unit; specialty insurers offer cargo + theft coverage for higher-value trailers. Get a quote before pickup so you can drive away covered.
Registration
How do I title and register a trailer I just bought?
The dealer will provide a bill of sale, title (or MSO for new trailers), and any manufacturer paperwork. Take these to your local DMV/MVD along with proof of insurance to register and get plates. Some dealers handle paperwork directly.
Towing
How do I know if my truck can tow this trailer?
Match your truck's GCWR (gross combined weight rating), tongue-weight rating, and hitch class to the trailer's GVWR and tongue weight (listed in the trailer's specs). When in doubt, ask the dealer — most will not let you leave with a trailer your truck can't safely tow.
Trade In
Can I trade in my current trailer?
Many dealers accept trade-ins. Use the "Trade-In" tool on any listing to submit photos and details of your current trailer; the dealer will send a valuation and apply it toward your purchase.
Used
What should I look for in a used trailer?
Check the title status, axle and brake condition, tire age (look at the DOT date code), frame for rust or weld repairs, floor for soft spots, and wiring for corroded connectors. Ask for service records. Reputable dealers will disclose known issues upfront.
Warranty
What warranty comes with a new trailer?
New trailers typically come with a 1- to 5-year manufacturer warranty on frame and structure, and 1-year on components (brakes, electrical, axles). Coverage varies by brand. Ask the dealer for the specific warranty on your trailer.
